Hello! I am Kathy This is my husband Jack.

Together with our four children we are a modern-day Hetherington family which is far removed from its distant warring ancestors who were known as the Border Reivers and are mainly remembered for stealing cattle and sheep from other border families.

Nowadays, our family is peace-loving and caring. Read on to discover how Jack and I became carers and adoptive parents and how we are committed to the welfare of people with learning disabilities and complex special needs.

The idea of having my own web pages was born out of my natural creative and artistic abilities. My interest in computers was nil until, as editor of a newsletter for the North Tyneside Learning Disabilities Federation, I could not fail to recognise the advantages of a word processor over the humble typewriter and the archaic duplicator. I then progressed to a personal computer, printer, scanner and Internet connection assisted and encouraged by my younger son. I attended local courses to build up my computer skills, and a final course at the Wallsend Peoples Centre entitled ‘Know your computer’ taught me a lot more including the rudiments of web page design and I was hooked. Serif software is invaluable to me. It is easy to use and has never failed to produce the required results. These pages were designed using Serif Web Plus 10. I fully recommend Serif products, Page Plus and Photo Plus too. **********************

Recently my PC crashed and I lost everything - hundreds of photos and the means to update my web sites. Now, in March 2007, I have a new machine and have taken steps to put this right. I apologise for the long delay in correcting the faults that occurred on the first two pages.
